AI initiative portfolio metrics
Purpose
This document describes the metrics and indicators of the AI initiative portfolio: the registry, statuses, distribution across stages, balance, and alignment with strategy and resources.
Key ideas
- Single registry — all initiatives are tracked in one place with attributes: owner, stage, priority, target impact, risks.
- Portfolio balance — a mix of quick wins and strategic initiatives; limiting the number of initiatives at early and delivery stages based on resources.
- Alignment with strategy — prioritization is aligned with business goals; the portfolio is reviewed periodically using metrics.
How it works
The AI office maintains the registry (see initiative model). Portfolio metrics include: adding/closing initiatives, assigning priorities, reporting (analytics layer), and stage gate decisions. Resources (teams, data, infrastructure) are planned with the portfolio in mind.

|---|---|
| New | 20% |
| Assessment | 25% |
| Delivery | 30% |
| Awaiting impact | 15% |
| On support / Closed | 10% |
