Handover to Operations
This playbook covers the transition from delivery to production operations. The goal is to make the AI solution supportable: with owners, monitoring, change rules, adoption plan, and impact measurement.
When to use
- prototype or MVP is ready for production use;
- the solution has passed business and technical validation;
- users are about to start working in the new process;
- support must move from the project team to an operational owner;
- the impact confirmation period begins.
Inputs
- initiative card;
- pilot or MVP results;
- architecture review;
- integration and dependency list;
- access model;
- monitoring plan;
- user training materials;
- impact measurement plan.
Readiness checklist
| Area | Minimum before handover |
|---|---|
| Ownership | Business owner, product owner, and support owner assigned |
| Technology | Components, environments, dependencies, integrations described |
| Data | Sources, owners, constraints, and quality recorded |
| Security | Access, logging, and data processing checks completed |
| Operations | Monitoring, alerts, SLA/SLO, and incident procedure ready |
| Users | Instructions, training, and feedback channel ready |
| Impact | Baseline, target metric, and review date defined |
Process
- Confirm solution readiness and known limitations.
- Assign the support model: who handles user requests, incidents, model quality, changes, backlog.
- Transfer knowledge: architecture, operations guide, known issues, update rules, contacts, rollback.
- Launch adoption: instructions, training, support channel, feedback.
- Start impact monitoring: collect facts, compare baseline and target, decide on scaling, improvement, or closure.
Output
The initiative can move forward when:
- support owner has accepted the solution;
- users are trained;
- monitoring works;
- access is configured;
- risks and limitations are documented;
- impact review date is assigned;
- initiative card is updated.
