AI in Operations

Purpose​

An example of applying AI Conveyor in the operations function: process automation, predictive maintenance, resource optimization, and document processing.

Key ideas​

  • Typical initiatives: RPA + ML, classification and data extraction from documents, forecasting of workload and failures, optimization of routes and schedules.
  • Impact is often expressed in FTE savings, reduced errors, and shorter processing times; integration with existing operational systems is important.
  • Stage gates account for process readiness and acceptance by operational owners.

How it works​

Operational units submit ideas through the common conveyor; experiments test data quality and the feasibility of automation. Prototypes are piloted on a limited set of processes; after Gate 3, they are scaled to full volume, taking process changes and staff training into account.
